After 10 Months, Chloe Found Her Perfect Match

Some things take time, but the right home is always worth the wait.

ree

Chloe came to the Alaska SPCA Adoption Center in May 2024. And that’s where she waited—for ten long months.

After her beloved owner passed away, Chloe’s family tried to care for her, but with several other pets already in the home, it wasn’t the right fit. Chloe, who had been used to being the only pet, became stressed and was ultimately surrendered to us.

At the shelter, Chloe struggled. In the cat room, she was overwhelmed by the presence of other cats and often passed over by adopters who only saw her when she was on edge. But when staff moved her into an office space, her true personality blossomed.

She sprawled across desks, “helped” with typing by lying on the space bar, and leaned into snuggles when she felt calm. Staff and volunteers knew the real Chloe—an affectionate, loyal companion—she just needed the right person to see her too.

And finally, after 10 months of waiting, Chloe found her perfect match.

Her new adopter shared:

“We are doing great. She has bonded well with me and is now my bestest little friend. She’s always wanting to sit or lay on my chest to get up close and personal. And we talk often, as I now know what some of her meows are for.”

Why Chloe’s Story Matters

Chloe is a shining example of why shelter space matters—especially for cats who need a little extra time and patience to find their home.

When cats have more room to move, hide, and relax, their stress levels decrease, their health improves, and their personalities shine through. Happier cats are not only healthier—they’re also more likely to be noticed by adopters.

Research backs this up. The BC SPCA’s Capacity for Care study found that simply doubling cage space resulted in a 15% increase in adoptions and reduced the average length of stay from 40 to 22 days. That’s a 45% decrease!

Our Next Step: A New Cat Suite

To better meet the needs of cats like Chloe, we’re working to upgrade one of our cat suites. This renovation will give shelter cats more room to move, rest, and simply be themselves—reducing stress and helping them get adopted more quickly.

We need to raise $5,000 to complete this project.

And we can’t do it without YOU!

That’s such a heartwarming story! It’s inspiring to see how patience and self-belief can lead to finding the right person. Chloe’s journey reminds us that timing truly matters when it comes to meaningful connections.

Stories like this also motivate people juggling multiple responsibilities to focus on what truly makes them happy. For students balancing studies and personal life, sometimes it’s wise to pay someone to do my online class so they can manage their time better and still pursue what matters most. Chloe’s experience proves that dedication and balance can lead to the best outcomes in life.
