Foster Families Save Lives

Our foster families are the quiet heroes behind our lifesaving work. When our shelter reaches its limits, they step forward — opening their homes, their time, and their hearts to animals who need more than we can provide within our walls.

In December, that support meant everything. Our Adoption Center team rescued more than six cats from a hoarding situation, including a mama cat and her newborn kittens who were only days old.

These fragile lives needed constant care, warmth, and attention — the kind that is more feasible outside the shelter environment. In that moment, foster care became the bridge between fear and safety, between survival and hope. Within hours, Liz and her family answered the call. As longtime fosters, they know how urgent these situations can be, and without hesitation they opened their home once again.

After a quick family check-in to make sure everyone was ready, they welcomed the little family into a calm, loving space where the kittens could grow strong and their mom could finally rest.

At times, Liz’s home has cared for as many as 12 cats and kittens at once, with every family member pitching in — feeding, cleaning, socializing, and most importantly, loving animals who needed a soft place to land. And their impact didn’t stop there. Later in January, Liz’s family stepped up yet again, taking in another litter of kittens and continuing to be a lifeline for animals with nowhere else to go.

Their willingness to say “yes” allows our staff to respond quickly to emergencies, rescue animals in crisis, and ensure every pet gets the individualized care they deserve while waiting for their forever home.

Foster homes like Liz’s make lifesaving work possible. Right now, we urgently need more compassionate families willing to open their homes to litters of kittens or puppies during their most fragile stages of life.

When you foster, you’re doing so much more than helping one animal— you’re supporting our shelter team, opening the door for the next emergency rescue, and giving these animals the love and safety they need to flourish.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is your sign. A safe home, a little time,

and a lot of love can change — and save — a life.

The image of Liz's family having 12 cats and kittens at once with everyone pitching in is both chaotic and completely heartwarming. The fact that foster care was the difference between survival and not for a mama cat and her newborn kittens days old says everything about why this network matters. Came across a shelter fostering feature over at https://direwolfseo.co.uk/ that highlighted similar unsung foster families making lifesaving work possible which felt very relevant here. If anyone has been on the fence about fostering this story should push them over it.

A veces uno encuentra sitios interesantes simplemente leyendo discusiones en internet. Mientras seguía una conversación apareció 1win1.cl mencionado dentro del texto. Al entrar noté que el catálogo parece bastante amplio y bien organizado.
