To the many people and businesses who make our work possible...

Community support has been crucial in helping us to rehabilitate many animals over the yearsincluding "Deuce" and "Big Red" (see their stories below).

The animals of the Alaska SPCA are very grateful to these terrific people for their hard work, thoughtfulness, and generosity!

• Thank you to 10-year-old Megan of Anchorage for single-handedly raising and donating $101 for the Alaska SPCA. She saw a commercial for the American SPCA and used her Facebook page to raise money to give to us.

• Thank you to Rogers Park Elementary of Anchorage for donating nearly $300 of wish list gifts to our animals. Our furry angels appreciate your generous contributions.

• Thank you to Girl Scout troop 398 of Anchorage for coming to take a tour of the Adoption Center and for donating $105 to our animals. We really appreciate you young ladies bringing your vibrant energy to the shelter and hope to see you again soon.

• Many thanks to Shor-Line (Schroer Mfg Co.), of Kansas City, for the generous discount on the new surgery table for our Spay Clinic. Your support is very much appreciated. Many thanks also to Carlile Transportation Systems, Inc. for shipping that new surgery table all the way from Missouri at no cost. We are grateful to both companies for their kindness and support.

• Thank you to Autumn S., her mom Jennifer, and her sister Courtney of Anchorage for not only adopting Bella the Chihuahua from us a while back, but also for their very kind donation of pet supplies and cash. For Autumn's birthday, she requested that people give items from our wish list or a monetary donation to the Alaska SPCA. That is one sweet girl!

• Thank you to the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Nugget Assembly for Girls in Anchorage for their generous donation of $300 of cat and dog supplies to the Alaska SPCA. They chose their donation items based on our wish list, and we and the animals really appreciate it!

• Thank you to Mrs. Uptegrove's special-needs students at Bowman School for their hard work raising $200 working at the school store last year and donating it to the Alaska SPCA.

• Thank you to 10-year-old Austin P. of Rogers Park Elementary for collecting $250 worth of supplies for the animals of the Alaska SPCA as part of his "Help a Shelter Animal have a Happy Holiday" community-service project for Cub Scouts.

• Thank you to the American SPCA for its grant of $2,500 to fund repairs for our Adoption Center's roof.

• Thank you to Exxon Mobil for renovations to build three additional dog kennels and runs, and for yard work, and planting.

• Thank you to Turner Rodgers of the Eagle Scouts in Anchorage for his labor to paint the Adoption Center, to ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc., for the $500 community grant in support of his project, and to Steve Wurtz, for donating the paint.

DeuceWe rescued this highly-spirited 8-month-old kitten from Mat-Su Animal Control. He had been "thrown away" in a trash can with a badly disfigured right front paw. Thanks to our very generous community (and a healthy dose of his own spite), Deuce has successfully overcome the full amputation of his leg, and has found his way into a wonderful and loving home.

Big Red – This sweet St. Bernard mix was found wandering the streets of Anchorage and slowly starving to death. When he arrived at our Adoption Center (top two photos), he weighed only 60 pounds and could hardly lift his back end. Through your donations we were able to properly examine him, attend to his medical and nutritional needs, and bring this lovable spirit back to a healthy weight. Now, nearly 40 pounds later, Big Red has happily found his forever home.
