THANKS TO THE MANY PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES WHO MAKE OUR WORK POSSIBLE...
Community support has been crucial in helping us to rehabilitate many animals over the years – including "Deuce" and "Big Red" (see their stories below).
• Thank you to the student council and teachers Heather Short and Katie Weidemaier at Ocean View Elementary School
in Anchorage for their generous fundraising and donation of $402 to the Alaska SPCA at the end of the 08/09 school year. The animals at the
Adoption Center are very grateful to these terrific young people for
their hard work, thoughtfulness, and generosity!
• Thank you to the ETSY Artisans who donate either their artwork or a portion of the proceeds from is sale to the Alaska SPCA.
Please support the following businesses to thank them for their continued generosity to the Alaska SPCA (click on each logo to be taken to its respective website):
Alaska Pet-ography - David Jensen provides professional studio photographs of some of our adoptable animals. David is a well-known local photographer who has been helping us for years.
KASH Country 107.5
- Our "Pet of the Week" is featured on "KASH Country Critters," each Wednesday morning during the
"Morning MOO" with Jimmy, Goat, and
their fine crew.
Anchorage Daily News - Kindly features our pet of the week every Monday in the "SPCA's Critters" section of the newspaper.
The Anchorage Press
- Generously donates two classified ads each week – one for our Spay Clinic and one for our Adoption Center.
Northern Lights Veterinary and Laser Center
- provides a great deal of care for our animals in and sponsors our weekly KASH Country Radio 107.5 pet-of-the-week feature.
Paw Prince - Home of the Alaska SPCA "Angel Tree" in December 2008 and the "Will Bark for Art" fundraiser in May 2009. The store features a pet bakery, premium food, clothing, and toys.
Arctic Paws - Manufacturers of the locally made "Yummy Chummies" dog treats, generously donated some of them to the Alaska SPCA.
Alaska Dog Sports
- Some of our adoptable dogs go through obedience training under the expertise of Liz Williams and her crew.

Rhonda Price, Realtor®
/ North Homes Realty, Inc. - Rhonda features adoptable animals from the Alaska SPCA and other groups on her website.
Alaska Mill Feed
- Located in Downtown Anchorage, they have a wide selection of products and have hosted many SPCA events.
Anchorage Animal Care & Controls
- Several rescue organizations like us try to rescue as many homeless
animals from Anchorage Animal Care and Control as we can.
Best Buy of Anchorage
- Generously donated an Acer laptop computer for us to use in our office.
Petfinder.com
- Our adoptable animals are featured on petfinder.com (and petfinder.org) – an online database of homeless pets in the U.S. and beyond. The site has facilitated ten million adoptions in its first
ten years. Users can search by kind of animal, breed, gender, size
and/or age.
Deuce – We
rescued this highly-spirited 8-month-old kitten from Mat-Su Animal
Control. He had been "thrown away" in a trash can with a badly
disfigured right front paw. Thanks to our very generous community
(and a healthy dose of his own spite), Deuce has successfully overcome
the full amputation of his leg, and has found his way into a wonderful
and loving home.
Big Red – This
sweet St. Bernard mix was found wandering the streets of Anchorage and
slowly starving to death. When he arrived at our Adoption Center (top
two photos), he weighed only 60 pounds and could hardly lift his back
end. Through your donations we were able to properly examine
him, attend to his medical and nutritional needs, and bring this
lovable spirit back to a healthy weight. Now, nearly 40 pounds later,
Big Red has happily found his forever home.
